Statement of the Week
"Mommy, I'm going to eat all my food and grow bigger than you!"
I sure hope so son...I sure hope so....
I try hard to NOT be one of those moms that only talks about their kid but sometimes there are hilarious or special stories that just have to be told. After sharing one of those stories with a friend she said, "That's a great story. I hope you're writing all this down." While I've kept his baby book updated with the small details (weight, first smile, etc.) I realized it's the funny everyday stories, the priceless memories, that are not being recorded...what better place than a blog...Enjoy!
"Mommy, I'm going to eat all my food and grow bigger than you!"
At a recent birthday part, Caleb received bubble gum tape in his goodie bag. Curious, he asked, "mommy what's this?" I decided it was ok to let him try it. I gave him a small piece and told him to put it in his mouth and explained that you chew gum and never swallow it. I took a small piece and placed it in my mouth and showed him with very exagerated chews. So there we sat in our living room, legs crossed facing one another, chewing our gum. About a minute passed and Caleb asked, "Now what???" I told him, "That's it. You just chew it." A very disappointed look crossed his face, "I don't like it." I laughed, "Ok, well, we never swallow gum so if you don't like it then you go over to the trash can and spit it out." Off he ran and spit his gum into the trash can. About 5 minutes later he brought the gum over to me and said he wanted more. I gave him alittle piece thinking that he wanted to give it another try. No more than 2 minutes later he said that he didn't like it so I told him to spit it out in the trash. Then a few minutes later he wanted some more...that's when I realized. Chewing gum is boring but spitting - now that's fun!
